Sure, rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, or Space Mountain hold a nostalgic hold on my heart, but the fact is that Disney has created specific experiences throughout the parks that were designed specifically for those “older” kids. And, many of those experiences are intended to appeal to various interests. Such is the case with EPCOT DiveQuest.
Where most of us kids get to view the amazing world under seas through one of the 56 large glass windows, those participating in the EPCOT DiveQuest actually get to dive in the 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium.
Imagine swimming in a controlled environment that closely mimics the natural seas. Complete with clear water and over 6000 sea creatures including dolphins, eagle rays, angel fish and sharks! Who knows, you may even find Nemo! I had to scuba dive in Hawaii for the chance to see turtles, and had to snorkel in St. Thomas before I saw Rays. With EPCOT DiveQuest, you get the opportunity to see those in one location. What makes it even more special is that along with a 40-minute dive in the tank at The Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavilion, you also get a backstage tour of the entire infrastructure to cap the 3-hour experience.
Before you book a dive experience, keep just a few things in mind:
1. You must be SCUBA Certified to participate
2. The entire experience takes 3 hours
3. The cost is $175 per adult
4. No park admission is required
5. Teenagers are allowed
6. You may use your personal mask if preferred
7. Personal cameras are NOT allowed, but you may purchase a DVD of your experience
